So while waiting in between coats of paint or when I need a break I have started a puzzle. Yes a puzzle, and the best part is it's a Twilight puzzle haha. Here is my progress so far. :-) As soon as the paint dries I'll put up some pics of the parts i have just done on the eva!

Eva Build Day 15

Stop looking for day 14......it doesn't exist I never wrote it. I decided to keep the actual number of days though which means it's day 15 and two weeks and one day has passed since I got my Eva. Painted and clear coat sealed some parts that I was able to complete without needing certain colors that have yet to appear because they have been touring the city of Atlanta. The paint should arrive tomorrow though and lets hope it does or I am calling customer service. Not to yell, but to be like "what's going on cause I don't understand". After working customer service I am not likely to yell at customer service ever again.

Not a whole lot happening over here. This weekend has been rough at work but the money has been good. I'll be putting pictures of the painted pieces up at some point so that this post isn't so boring with just text. On the bright side of things, my incredible boyfriend Chris (love him to death) got me a new laptop for school. GO MACBOOK!!!! School is good. Never knew college could be so much fun even when you only go one night a week. I actually have fun in my classes, go figure. lol. Chris's surprise is shipping out tomorrow so he should get it soon. Yay! The weather is great here in GA. Finally I can start tanning on my days off.

I have a tentative timeline for my "fun money" by the way fun money is all the money that doesn't go to some sort of savings, whether it's for the cruise savings fund, savings savings fund, etc. So I am thinking this for an order. I am going on this order based on "I really freaking need it first" to "I just want it"

1. tires......definitely need new tires
2. exhuast.......got to fill in the left side gaping hole of nothing in my bumper. I have single exhuast and I want duel
3. fill in my rib cage tattoo
4. new tattoo
5. cute clothes/bathing suit

so far that's all I have. I am sure painting my car will get done somewhere in that mix. Yes my car has a nice coat of paint. I just want to change it up a bit. haha.

Paint Update

Well on the bright side I figured out what happened to my paint shipment. Apparently some mechanical error and that's why it traveled in a circle between two hubs. They say it will be here on Monday. My super special surprise for Chris though is scheduled to be delivered today. Woot!

GGGRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

So guess what guys? My paint was supposed to arrive today and when it doesn't come and I go and track it, guess what I find out. Apparently it arrived in Atlanta, went to Doraville, somehow went back to atlanta, and then made another trip to Doraville and never came to the house. So my question is why and who drove around all day with my paint, and I hope there is a good reason it never got dropped off.

Paint

Still waiting on the FedEx person......it's about 1:16pm here. I know that's not what the time stamp is going to say on here. I don't have any clue why it doesn't post the right time, ever. I have changed it to the right time zone, but whatever. No biggie. It posts the right date and that's all I care about. Hopefully FedEx will get here before I have to go to work tonight.

Eva Build Day 13

Still waiting on the paint to come.......any hour now.........

Eva Build Day 12

THE PAINT IS ARRIVING TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! Now I can actually get a move on with the Eva. **excitement**

Eva Build Day 11

Tracked my shipment of paint. It'll be arriving on Friday. WOO HOO!!!!!! But until then I am going to continue to sunbathe and work my butt off at work and do my homework for class on Tuesday. Now my only question for today is, "Is it bad that I timed my flipping over while sunbathing on the fact that I would stay on one side while reading a chapter of Harry Potter and then flip when the chapter was over to start tanning and reading the next chapter?" That is all for today. :-)

Eva Build Day 10

Got some of the internal pieces prepped, primed, and painted. Got an email saying my tamiya order should be here shortly. That'll be nice cause then I can lift the hold on the construction of the Eva and get this show on a roll!!

Eva Build Day 9

Picked up some more supplies at hobby town. Eva build on hold until the paint from tamiya arrives at my doorstep, and my new tube of model putty. So now it's nothing but a waiting game.

Eva Buld Day 8

Sorry to say I have nothing to report today guys. I woke up and ate lunch and then it was time to get ready for work, and now I am home from work. but on the bright side of things I am watching The Count Of Monte Cristo. Love that movie! When I awake in the morning I'll be headed back up to Hobby Town in Cumming GA to replenish some much needed supplies and devoting the day to the Eva. Much to do!

Eva Build Day 7

As you can see I have gotten section 02 pieces sanded and primed today. We are moving right along! It would be helpful to have the light purple color right now but until it ends up on my doorstep those pieces are on hold from any kind of priming or paint. Knowing me I'd prime them and then somewhere down the line when the light purple came I would forget which primed pieces were supposed to be that color and we can't have that mess up happen. So I am playing on the safe side of things. Tomorrow Is painting these pieces there proper colors and working on sanding the pieces to section 03 so that they can be primed asap! Hopefully construction of section 01 will commence on this coming Saturday since I am estimating the light purple arriving sometime around Thursday or Friday. If not then it's just pushed back no problem.

Eva Build Day 6 Part 2

The painted pieces came out good! I am excited to see that the paint is coming out nicely! Primed a few more pieces tonight and I'll be on to priming pieces tomorrow morning after I role out of bed, haha. I don't know how much more I will accomplish this weekend since I am working the night shifts at work and with a concert in town tomorrow you best believe I will be at work until the wee hours of the morning due to the crowds, which means I'll be sleeping most of Sunday and probably not getting too much done on the model. I will keep painting pieces though, just no assembly. Can't afford to put pieces together wrong when I am not fully awake to do so. :-)

Eva Build Day 6 Part 1

Canceled my first paint order with Tamiya. Put in a new order today. Now all I am waiting on is blue violet and red. Going back to HobbyTown in Cumming, GA this coming Monday to stock back up on sand paper, cement, I need another can of finishing spray, and I think I will purchase some new brushes. It about time for those. Haven't had new ones in two years.

Eva Build Day 5

Well, I decided to take another trip up to Cumming, GA and see if maybe some more colors came in at HobbyTown. I was in luck, they had a few things I needed. I got my yellow, my gun metal, and my black, and I also picked up a new can of primer. Yay! This means I can cancel part of my order. Still need the orange and violet blue though, and I have feeling those will have to be waited on via mail. But it's okay and more than worth it to have the right colors. :-)

so let's see.......I primed the pieces from section 01 and then just about an hour ago the primer was set and dry and I coated them with their proper colors. **joy**

Eva Build Day 4

Ordered the second batch of colors I need for the model. Estimated delivery is 6 to 10 days. So I am waiting. Hopefully they come a lot faster than that. I'll keep you guys updated. :-)

Random Entry 2

This is a beautiful tree I have over my driveway. I love this tree.....but I also don't love this tree. It's really very beautiful, but it can get irksome. It's a love hate thing really. I love the beauty but not the fact that when the blooms start falling off even if my car just passes under it when it comes out my car is officially a decorated pink flower parade float. But I am glad to have such a pretty tree in my yard. and it is funny when I drive down the road and flowers are flying off of it everywhere, haha.

Eva Build Day 3 Results

So there you have it. Slow but good progress on the eva. Sorry if I sounded bossy or like a know it all in any of my posts. Not trying to. Like I said this is just how I do my models and it's my opinion. I don't know all when it comes to building them. I just know how I do and that's it. Checked online for the rest of the paint I need. All but the shade of orange I need is finally available so those will be ordered tomorrow and then it's an estimated 6 to 10 days wait with shipping. Worth the wait though. Gotta have the right colors, right? haha. Today went well I think. In the future there will be one maybe two posts through the days of the process of building this eva. Today had so many simply because it's how I thought to break up everything I was doing to make this model look good to my standards. Obviously I will be sanding pieces throughout the building process but no need to put that process up every time. Same goes for the gluing/cementing of parts. :-) Hope it wasn't too boring. It should get more interesting once the rest of my materials (paint) arrive and I can really get going on this thing. haha Woot! Can't wait!

Eva Build Day 3 Part 2 Subject: TAAAA DAAAA!!!!!!

Let's see......these would be my finished products of sanding. The top picture I included just to show that attention has to be brought to nubs that happen to lie on curved surfaces, especially if they are in curves that would affect an internal moving piece. Middle picture is just a show of how taking your time sanding can pay off with a much smoother nub free surface. And last but not least the last picture. Always a good idea to sand down nubs that are on the inside seams of parts that will be butted up against other parts when put together. Helps create a no gap seam when the two parts are joined. Probably didn't need to tell you guys that though haha. Now the parts are ready to go to the painting process. First step Priming second step color.

Eva Build Day 3 Part 2 Subject: Getting Work Done And Not Babbling About My Technique

Sooooo....the bottom picture would be me LIGHTLY scraping the rough part of the nub on a part down. I find that it saves sanding time if you lightly use your knife to get the bulk of the rough nub off. But you have to be careful because if you use a lot of pressure you are either going to get your finger when the knife gives way with a release of pressure or you are going to gouge out a nice dent in your plastic part and that's just a pain in the butt to fix. So I use light pressure to shave off a bit of the roughness of the nub left from the tray. The way I think about it is like shaving the piece as if you were shaving your leg or your face. Light pressure and let the blade do it's job. You would want to put a lot of pressure on the razor while shaving your leg or face because you are just gonna injure yourself. So light pressure and you won't injure the piece. :-)
The top picture would be the first sand paper out of the before mentioned 54321 series of sand papers I use to get a nice smooth nub free surface. I just take my time sanding and making sure that I am not over sanding and creating a weird spot on the piece. Can't be too careful with this model! I wanna make it PERFECT!!!!!! haha.

Eva Build Day 3 Part 2 Subject: Sanding

Here are the sand papers I use to sand down those little nubs after you cut the pieces out of the trays. These come in a package that Testors puts out. I am sure there are many others you can use but these have proven to get the job done for me every time so I have stuck with them. If anyone knows of some that they suggest do a better job please let me know I'd love to check them out. :-) i normally just line them up left to right in 54321 order. 5 being the coarsest and 1 being the finest. Just easier for me to not mess up the steps of sanding the pieces down. In the pictures here from top to bottom I have them in reverse order staring with the finest sand paper first.

Eva Build Day 3 Part 2 Subject: Tools

Ah here we go! Some of my trusted tools of the trade! As you can see above we have the exacto(however you spell it) knife. Yes that is a beer in the background, but please DO NOT drink while using ANY sharp object/tool. It only ends in injury and that's never a good thing. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T USE SHARP OBJECTS WHILE DRINKING! And below that picture is a pair of clippers. These are actually metal clippers for beading crafts but I think you can find them in a hardware store as well. I love them for cutting parts out of their trays because A) they cut well and B) they have a nice flat edge that lets you get close to the part and cut it out in one quick safe motion. It also saves on time because I know the other way I have seen it done was with an exacto knife and that can take a bit depending on the type of plastic you are trying to get through. Also the clippers are a cleaner break/cut. But this is just my opinion it is by no means the only way.

Eva Build Day 3 Part 2 Subject: Nubs

Okay so I thought I would address what everyone runs into. Not a huge deal really but you know those little nubs that you get after you get your pieces out of their trays? Well as I have said before I am by no means a master model builder and we all get rid of these things a little differently. As for me I love my my model knife and sand paper. Here are some pictures of the nubs I am talking about.

Random Entry 1

Had lunch with my best friend's mother today. For the life of me I can not remember the name of the place. I do remember however that they are open for breakfast and lunch only and they are located on HWY 9 in Roswell, GA just before you hit the light by the public library. Which would make it two lights before the intersection of HWY 9 and Canton/Atlanta Street. If you pass the firehouse you have gone to far. I repeat YOU WILL HAVE GONE TO FAR. For those of you that can find this place via my crazy locating skills then please please PLEASE try it out. The food was great! I only had a sandwich off of the lunch menu but my lunch guest has eaten there for breakfast and she says it's just as good. The service is excellent as well and they have both inside and outside seating with some cover so that the sun isn't directly on you. GO THERE! well....if you can find it.....I should really track down the name of the place. It would make it easier on you all.

Eva Build Day 3 Part 1

Well here it is! The Perfect Grade Eva Test Type 01. For those of you that are wondering, yes that is a fender behind the box. It is in fact the original right front fender that happens to have once belonged to a 2007 Vista Blue Ford Mustang. It also happens to be ruined. Apparently someone in a mini van doesn't know how to stay in there lane and crossed the line during heavy traffic and hit me. This was two years ago. I'm still pissed, but on the bright side it didn't total my car and now I have a cool crushed up fender for display in my room. :-) But back to the Eva. You'll come to find I jump from one random subject to the next and back again. Deal with it. So in about 3 1/2 to 4 hours I shall be diving in to the first few steps in this model. Woot! As you can already tell from above this model shall prove to be a challenging quest, but hell if won't look cool when I am done with it! Enjoy. Part 2 is about to ensue guys......ya ready for it?

Eva Build Day 2

So I drove all the way up to Cumming this afternoon to get to Hobbytown USA in hopes of finding my paint. Good news is they had a pretty good selection of Tamiya paint. They had the bold purple and bright green I needed. But not the light purple, orange, and yellow. But hey i got 2 out of 5 that's not bad. So now on to ordering the rest and waiting. So good news, getting my lazy ass out of bed and into the shower and up to Cumming, GA turned out to yield good results. I got some of the paint I needed. Bad news......I still have to wait for the rest of it. Good news, I can now start on actually building the Eva. Bad news, I don't know how far I will get until I need the other colors.

All in all today is a good step forward on the build. So:

Build Day 2 Results, I got some of the paint and can start building in the next few hours after I clean the house. Count down until I travel back into Nerdham for a little while, 5 1/2 hours. Damn skippy folks!

A Few Pictures

soooo let's see. Figured I would put up a few pictures to start off with. Above you can see me in "nerdham" as my photographer friend calls it, ha. I put together some magazines and though I only have three gundams out yes there are more in those boxes you see. That is probably an 1/8 of the gundams I have built if i had to guess. The following two pictures are of one of my favorite builds. A 1/100 scale Launcher Strike Gundam. I had it on display for a few weeks in a model store. Woot!
P.S. I am by no means a master model builder. Just a nutter who loves to build models. I am still working on shading with an airbrush and haven't quite got that down yet, but at least I can paint them with an airbrush and that makes me happy. And I thank my lucky stars everyday for giving me a steady hand so that I can hand line this little things without scribbling all over them but sometimes mistakes happen folks, and I have to touch them up with paint.

Day 1 of The Eva Build

Well everybody......today marks the first day of the great eva build. Let me give you a little background on this build. Long story short, back in my high school days there was a model I was dying to build. It was a Perfect Grade Eva Test Type 01 model. now if you don't know what an eva is go and you tube Neon Genesis Evangelion and you'll figure it out. A little lesson on grades of these models, you have High Grade, Master Grade, and Perfect Grade. Take a wild guess at which is the best and most expensive......ding ding if you guessed Perfect Grade than you win. But I have no prize for you. Anywho, At the time I couldn't A) locate one of these and B) when I did find one I definitely did not have the money to spend on buying it. So for the last five or six years I have only dreamed of this model.

I did however manage in 2003-2004 to acquire a Perfect Grade Wing Zero Custom. I built one leg and stopped. Don't ask why, I have no clue. I just stopped. A few weeks ago I needed something constructive to do and my brain kicked my skull and said "hey, you still have that unfinished Perfect Grade in the closet" So I brought it out and built it. I was talking to Chris one night (For those of you tuning in without reading the introduction Chris would be my bf) and besides thoroughly confusing him on what a Gundam was he mentioned his friend who is with him overseas builds them too. Apparently his friend has my coveted Perfect Grade Eva un-built just waiting for the day it gets put together. Talk about envy right? haha. So out of the blue one day Chris says I have a surprise for you coming in the mail. and that's all he says. No clues, nothing. A mysterious box arrives on my doorstep from someone in Illinois.

I am slightly confused as to who this person is and why they have sent me a package. I swear I checked the shipping label five times to make sure I wasn't imagining my name on it. i open it and low and behold there is a Perfect Grade Eva Test Type 01 model kit in this box. It was in perfect condition. Never opened, never built, all pieces. So now I am thinking what poor soul was this supposed to go to and how much that sucks cause it's on my doorstep, but then I realize, no.....my name was the label....it's.....mine? It only takes 15 minutes for my brain's stupidity to quit before i realize this is Chris's Surprise. Wanna know the first words out of my mouth? Well here they are, "How did that little shit find one??!!" throughout the day i kept running upstairs at random times like a little kid trying to catch santa clause in the act of putting presents under the tree in disbelief that this model was actually here and actually mine.

So now I have my coveted Perfect Grade Eva Test Type 01. Don't you love how my long story short turned into a short story long? haha. Well you wanna know the irony of now having this model? I went to go buy the paint and all the colors I need are back ordered. So tomorrow I am going to drive to a paint dealer and pray that he has the colors I need. If not, I am on the waiting list and hopefully I'll have the paint in a week.

Soooo.......

Build Day 1 Results.......absolutely nothing, I am sitting on my ass.

An Introduction

So, since I am guessing that most who may come across this will have no clue who I am. I am just a person....remember that....well I am just a very klutzy person who somehow manages to defy so many laws of physics it's hilarious. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Chris who is overseas right now. I love him with all of my heart and just want him to come home safe. I am a waitress and a student. I am studying early childhood education and I love it. Some say I must have a lot of patience to work with younger kids and maybe that's true but honestly I think it's because I still have, at times, the mind set of a five year old. I see a box of crayons and I go "CRAYONS!!!!! Let's color!!" Don't even get me started on modeling clay and paper crafts. I'll never shut up. I am also very much into building models. I don't care if they are cars, trucks, planes, boats, Gundams, Evas, etc. I build it all. And yes I do build a lot of Gundams.....I know......I am a nerd, but I am a cute and funny nerd so there...you can kiss my ass and make fun of me all you like. I read a lot of books. I'll read anything as long as it is interesting to me.

I go to school at night and work whatever hours I can get when I don't have school. I often babble about random stuff. Sometimes you may never know what will come out of my mouth. For the last 6 months I have been more places than I have been in my entire life. And it's all thanks to Chris he has taken me on so many great adventures. :-) I also apparently have really bad ju ju with cell phones. I am somehow getting a new one constantly. They tend to break a lot in my possesion and no I don't always drop them...they just crap out on me. I am a kind person who just loves to laugh and is probably way to over positive a lot of times, but hey, in my eyes that's better than being negative most of the time. I am realist when it comes to many things so just cause I am overly positive doesn't mean I ignore reality, there are just times I can't let it get me down. Well enough of this introduction. Now onto my babble that is my life. Enjoy.
